The Mount Gay Master Blender Collection #7 – Coffey Still Expression is an exceptional limited edition showcasing one of the rarest stills in the world. This cuvée pays tribute to the legendary distiller Reynold "Blues" Hinds, an emblematic figure of Mount Gay who devoted more than fifty years to the distillery.
For this seventh edition of the prestigious Master Blender Collection series, Master Blender Trudiann Branker chose to bring back the mythical 100% copper Coffey Still, put back into service in 2019. Made from Barbadian molasses and aged for 4 years in heavily toasted bourbon barrels, this rum offers a modern interpretation of a historic distillation style dating from the 19th century.
Produced in only 5,004 numbered bottles, this limited edition perfectly illustrates the balance between tradition, innovation and craftsmanship that characterises Mount Gay.
Tasting notes
Nose:
Elegant and complex, marked by aromas of ripe pear, vanilla, nutmeg and leather.
Palate:
Ample and generous, revealing flavours of grapefruit, honey, oak and cinnamon, perfectly integrated.
Finish:
Long and warming, blending sweet spices, woody notes and a subtle citrus freshness.
