The Gevrey-Chambertin "Champerrier Vieilles Vignes" 2023 from Domaine Tortochot is a red Burgundy made exclusively from pinot noir. This cuvée comes from the oldest plot of the estate, some of whose vines were planted in 1920 by Félix Tortochot. The remarkable age of the vines gives the wine fine density, concentration and great aromatic depth.
The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 15% of them new oak, to refine its structure while preserving the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
Tasting
Colour
A deep, luminous ruby-red colour with elegant garnet highlights.
Nose
The bouquet reveals seductive aromas of redcurrant, wild strawberry and wild raspberry. Floral notes of peony and dried rose are accompanied by mineral nuances evoking crushed stone.
Palate
The attack is silky and expressive, carried by fresh, precise red fruit. The body is dense yet retains great elegance. Spicy and peppery touches complete the picture, while fine tannins bring structure, balance and length.
The Gevrey-Chambertin "Champerrier Vieilles Vignes" 2023 is a deep, refined and perfectly structured pinot noir. Already seductive after good aeration, it also has excellent ageing potential of 10 to 15 years. It will pair perfectly with a grilled rib steak, roast pork or an autumn vegetable gratin.
