Description
The Mount Gay Single Estate Series Release 02 is an exceptional rum made exclusively from sugar cane grown on the distillery's own estate in Barbados. This limited edition showcases the unique terroir of the island and the expertise of the oldest rum distillery still in operation.
From the 2018 harvest, this rum was distilled in copper pot stills and aged for 6 years in former American white oak bourbon barrels. Not cold-filtered and with no added sugar, it is bottled at 55% ABV, delivering an authentic and intense expression of the Mount Gay style.
Produced in only 5,418 numbered bottles, this cuvée is also the first edition of the range created with an eco-responsible approach.
Tasting notes
Nose:
Rich and complex aromas of citrus, ripe fruit and exotic fruit, accompanied by notes of grapefruit, plum, banana, almond, milk chocolate, sweet spices and a light saline touch.
Palate:
Generous texture revealing flavours of brown sugar, toasted oak and citrus, supported by floral nuances. The whole evolves towards a long, lightly smoky and subtly salty finish.
Finish:
Lingering, balanced and elegantly woody, with a fine maritime signature typical of Barbados rums.
